Late Summer In Central Berlin
(c) Paul Heidelberg
From the book of poetry (c) Paul Heidelberg, IN THE SPIRIT
OF THE FIRST DISCOVERY
FOR MIKE
Some go
some come:
some go
back
beneath
the leaves
and soil
once worked over,
conquered.
Some go old,
as easily
as a brush
goes through the hair.
Others go
when it is least expected,
they go
leaving electric
alarm
clocks
buzzing;
the clocks
can not
believe
it is over
so soon.
Those
who stay
can not believe
youth can be
robbed
so cheaply
by night and the buzz
of an alarm clock.
The sun
strikes
the prism.
The light
lays
in dimensions
on the flat plane.
The depth
is dependent
upon the viewer.
The image
is hidden
by coming
and going.
